Beginning to Wrap Up

Last week of classes

  • The Optional HW9 will be “due” Monday, 4/27 as per usual. You don’t need to turn it in and get no extra credit for doing this work – it’s purely up to you whether it makes sense to do it or not. The strongly recommended practice problems have answers in the back of the book so you can “grade” yourself.

  • No quiz this week.

  • We will have a review of Logistic Regression in Class on Monday 4/27. This will cover the ideas of transformations, odds/probabilities, simple logistic models, multiple logistics models, and assessing the goodness of a model fit (i.e., the likelihood test).

  • Wednesday’s activities are TBD. We could just have time for questions, do extra practice together, have student hours, or cancel class. We’ll resolve what this looks like on Monday.

Second Exam

  • The second take-home exam will be distributed on Wednesday 4/29 at 3pm (so, after class). It will be due Friday, May 8th before 11:59PM, submitted via Moodle.

  • The structure of the exam will be similar to the first take-home exam – you’ll get a dataset and have to work through a variety of calculations, tests, fitting, and interpreting models – just for logistic regression.

  • It will only cover what we’ve done since Spring Break.

  • You will be expected to work by yourself on this exam. You can ask me questions, and I will respond back to the group as best I can (i.e., trying to clarify, but without giving the answer) on Slack.

  • I will have limited office hours (by appointment) during finals period, but I will be available on Slack every day.
